BLK GRL CONGLOMERATE exists to cultivate a thriving ecosystem where Black women and girls in Detroit are deeply supported, seen, and resourced. Through culturally rooted programs in wellness, literacy, and leadership, we provide the tools, spaces, and community necessary for our collective healing and liberation.
Our mission is to nourish Black women’s brilliance—physically, mentally, and intellectually—so that every girl grows up knowing her power, and every woman moves through the world knowing she belongs.
We don’t just empower—we equip.
We don’t just serve—we build legacies.
Together, we rise, read, rest, and resist—on purpose and in full bloom.
Projects

Black Girl Picnic
Culturally-Charged
A celebration of rest, resistance, and radiance. Black Girl Picnic gathers hundreds of women and girls each summer on Belle Isle to move, heal, and pour into one another through music, art, and community care. It’s not just an event — it’s a love letter to Black womanhood in full bloom.
Our Grandmothers Garden
Healing Communities
A living sanctuary honoring the wisdom and labor of the women who came before us. Our Grandmother’s Garden teaches wellness, sustainability, and storytelling through intergenerational workshops that root healing in land, legacy, and literacy.

Banned Books in The Park
Summer Reading Series
A summer reading series that turns resistance into ritual. Banned Books in the Park brings families, educators, and young readers together to reclaim stories that were never meant to be silenced. Each week, we gather in Detroit’s green spaces to read, reflect, and restore—exploring literature by Black and Brown authors whose words challenge, heal, and ignite. With blankets, books, and belonging, we transform public parks into classrooms of freedom.
